The ‘Qualitarian’

Are you motivated by quality or quantity?

So many of us are trying so hard to earn more, do more and be more. We are hustling, striving, and over-achieving – and we are exhausted.

It’s a whole lot easier to live a life and run a business if we choose quality experiences over anything else. The quality within our everyday lives is lost on most of us.

We’re grabbing a quick meal or rushing through our day unnecessarily, thinking that this will get us further in life and business. It doesn’t.

When was the last time you thought about the quality of your eating or sleeping? Do you notice how you may or may not be using quality words in your expressions? Are you taking the time it takes to do things well?

Becoming a “qualitarian” is as easy as pausing to notice what matters most to you. What do you really want your business to look like? Once you determine this, it’s much easier to make decisions and take positive action. Otherwise, you’re just going through the motions.

Imagine an ideal workday and compare it to the typical workday you’re currently experiencing. Quite different, right? This comes down to simple things like a nice quality pen to write with instead of a cheap one you bought in bulk. This doesn’t mean that you must buy the most expensive pen, but it does make a difference when you’re writing a letter to a colleague or journaling. It feels different. It feels better. It feels more luxurious.

What about the quality of your business relationships? What about the quality of the coffee you serve at your meetings? What about the quality of thoughts you have about an upcoming deadline? These all matter. They matter more than you realize.

If you prioritize the quality of the time you spend with your clients or customers, your business life will improve. They will notice. They will remember. They will feel the positive effects of your quality interactions.

If you take your time making decisions based on how they affect the quality of their outcomes, you will immediately notice a difference in your business. You will also be a more effective decision-maker.

If you choose quality over everything else, you will also see an improvement in your personal life. Your conversations will improve. Your physical health will improve. Your emotional state will balance out. Your mental state will become more stable.

This is as simple as asking yourself, “What’s the most qualitative thing I can do right now?”

Living in a “qualitarian” state of being is easy to implement if you go moment-by-moment.

You can ask yourself questions like, “Does this _____ help or hinder my business.”

“Does this _____ support or sabotage my career?”

This allows you to ask and answer from a quality perspective. Quality over all else.
