The Most Perfect Taste

As I sit here on a junk in Halong Bay in Vietnam I have had time to reflect on many things. There has been moments when I have realized how perfect my life is.

I love my business of taking women on amazing adventures, I love watching those AHA moments come to life, but I have also been reflecting on what sort of woman I am.

I have come to believe that there are two types of women in this world – the first goes to Italy and is surrounded by gelato – amazing flavors and colors as far as the imagination can stretch – they taste a couple of flavors, find the one or two they like and always have those – the same, day in and day out. Occasionally they will have a taste of someone else’s, savor the joy and difference of it and think they must try others more often but they never do.

The second type is the woman who marvels at the colors and the flavors and tries as many as she wants – a different one every day if she can. She is exhilarated by the differences, who would have thought you could have rose blossom flavor or even smoky tobacco – a treat for not only the taste buds but the imagination as well.

The second type of woman is the one I have fought hard to be like, I was the first type for so very long. In the one job, in the one relationship, this was my life – unhappy and boxed in, then the box was too small and I knew I had to make a change. A change that I could never come back from. A change that meant I had to put my life back together and learn valuable lessons about myself, those around me and the world. Lessons that were hard and like I was walking a steep staircase that I wasn’t sure where I would finish.

But now I see my journey behind me and I feel it and am grateful for what I have learnt. Yesterday I swam in the magical waters here, the legend says that long ago the local people were threatened by foreign invaders, and so the mother dragon and her four babies came down from the sky to protect them. They loved it so much here that they stayed and that is how the limestone rocks of this place were formed. The waters flowed with this mythology and I felt energized and engulfed in calm all at the one time.

As we step into our spiritual selves and the realm of the world awakens, it is time to address what sort of woman (or man) you are. Are you one that goes through life settling for the average or will you step up and taste the many flavors before you? Will you be the one speaking out loud and intriguing the crowds or are your gifts for the quiet and the individuals you meet along your way?

I know it is time for me to truly step into my power – to be the woman that tastes the many flavors of gelato, to swim in more magical waters and to not just settle for one flavor or one experience. The woman that knows there are many options out there and the woman that stands up and tastes all that she can.

So who is with me on this journey?
