Welcome everybody, welcome to Spiritual Biz Chat for Spiritual Biz Magazine, and today we have joining us Julie Bruns, the author of her new book, “Peace, Possibilities and Perspective”. Welcome, Julie, thank you for being with us, how are you doing today?

JULIE BRUNS:   Fabulous! I’m always thrilled to talk about my book and how it can help people!

It’s a pleasure to have you here, Julie! Could you share the story behind your personal journey down the path to your current life’s purpose and work?

JULIE:   I wasn’t always sure what I wanted to do, even entering college. I knew I wanted to help people, but that’s obviously very vague. So I majored in marketing and economics because people told me I’d be good at sales.  I didn’t want to sell, but I didn’t know what else to do.  Just before finishing my undergrad degree, I decided I wanted to be a teacher, so I went to graduate school. I ultimately combined my business and teaching degrees so that I could use my skills in the corporate world of learning and development.  I spent over 20 years in corporate training and finally started my own company. I have an employee engagement program, including workshops to increase creativity and productivity, a podcast ‘The Peace and Possibilities Podcast’, a blog, and now, a book.  A few years ago, I finally realized that I needed to create the job I wanted, instead of looking “out there” to obtain it.

How inspiring! Congratulations on the recent release of “Peace, Possibilities, and Perspective”! That’s exciting! What was the inspiration behind this book and when did you know you were ready to write it?

JULIE:   I knew I was ready to write it when my sister-in-law died in 2019, and I realized that I needed to seize the day and make my dreams happen or I would always regret it.  No one is guaranteed anything, so it’s important to make things happen when you’re inspired to do it.  I didn’t want to waste one more minute, and I can honestly say, since that day I had the epiphany, I’ve seldom wasted a day.

Julie, what do you hope for the readers to take away after reading your book? What would you say to people who are looking for peace, possibilities, and a new perspective right now?

JULIE:   I hope readers can take away an understanding that THEY have the power to create exactly what they want in their lives.  They can live peacefully and happily and go after their dreams every day, using these 8 secrets.  They don’t have to have any money to start living this way right now.  Being open to all that’s possible will keep them always dreaming and ultimately changing the planet with their dreams.

What kind of advice can you give to someone who wants to write a book but is afraid or hesitant to for any reason?

JULIE:   Simply go for it! If you have something to share and think it will help people, do it! You wouldn’t have the dream to do it if you didn’t have what it takes. Write every day for a few hours and commit to finishing by a goal date.  Life will get in the way if you don’t prioritize; there will always be excuses. Ask yourself, “will I regret not doing this?”  My answer was 100% yes!  You’ll be so proud when you finally complete it.  So few people actually ever do – don’t let that be you!

What is your ultimate goal with your work? What is your mission? Your dream?

JULIE:   My ultimate goal is to show people that life is meant to be enjoyed and we’re meant to thrive. We were not born to struggle; we were born to live peaceful, happy, and content lives. We have all the tools we need to live this way every day.  And no one is going to do it for us. We must intentionally choose to live happier lives. We were put on this planet to share our gifts with the world.  It’s waiting for us to do just that. So get going!

Is there a final message you want to let our readers know? Or just any last little words that you have for them?

JULIE:   Don’t let anyone decide what you can do, only you have that power. If you believe it’s possible, then it is. Really! Go towards those things that light you up and you’ll keep finding more of those things, and people who are doing the same. It’s there, in that space that your true potential will be born.  Stay away from negative people; they will NEVER get you where you want to go!

Thank you, Julie, very much! It has been such a pleasure chatting with you today!

JULIE:   Thank you for this opportunity and for the work you do every day.
