Cynthia Sue Larson is the best-selling author of six books who helps people visualize and access whole new worlds of possibility. Cynthia hosts Living the Quantum Dream on the DreamVisions7 radio network. She has been featured on the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, Coast to Coast AM, and the BBC, and has presented papers at international conferences on science, spirituality, and consciousness.
Since 1999, Cynthia has shared findings from scientific research in the fields of quantum physics, quantum biology, the placebo effect, positive psychology, sociology, and alternative medicine. Cynthia’s articles have appeared in journals ranging from Cosmos and History, to Magical Blend, to Parabola.
Results from Cynthia’s “How Do You Shift Reality?” surveys conducted in April 2000 and June 2013 document incidences of the most commonly experienced types of reality shifts, and her RealityShifters web site has compiled one of the most extensive collections of reality shift reports in the world. Her popular e-magazine, RealityShifters, is eagerly awaited each month by thousands of subscribers world-wide.

INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS
Kimberly: What do you think are the challenges we face as Mind Body Spirit Entrepreneurs? And what challenges did you face as you began marketing your business?
Cynthia: Once I got pass the challenge of ‘I cannot believe I am doing this,’ because it is embarrassing, because I have an MBA degree and a background in physics, so I was overcoming my internal barriers or concerns, I felt like coming out of the closet. I really do love this stuff, I love Mind Body Spirit topics, but I felt nervous about sharing that. I started realizing it is what I love, it is my passion, I would like to help encourage other people find their passions and to work with them as a spiritual life coach. I know what it feels like to be overcoming that internal barrier of not even knowing how to get going.
Once I got pass all that, the next milestones were building that mailing list up. It started with about 700 emails that I got on my own, and I was actually emailing 700 people from my email to theirs, not at all automated.
Kimberly: Wow! Total dedication!
Cynthia: For sure! That was also the turning point. When I got to that I thought, ‘This is getting kind of hairy – recognizing every time someone changes their email. Do I want to be dealing with an email change? I should have a system for this.’ So that was a wakeup call. I have had a series of these wakeup calls and recognized a need to streamline things, jump on board with whatever the new technologies are for things like mailing list for example. So I went through a bunch of different mailing lists, contacts, and automated things on my website so I would be able to sell products. For a while, I was selling my own e-books before Amazon had the Kindle. I was actually doing that, making thousands of dollars a year with e-book sales through my website.
I found it an interesting journey because I have been on different things as the technology is changing. I think a lot of people right now might feel overwhelmed, there are so many options, how do you choose? My advice would be just getting something started, and then you can fix it. At least you are doing something.
Kimberly: That is beautiful. So how are you marketing to your audience? Are you using social media? What tools are working best for you in reaching those clients?
Cynthia: I am an author, and it is important as an author to learn how to do a book launch. A lot of authors do not know you can do a book launch any time. It does not have to be when the book first comes out. I did a book launch for my book Reality Shifts which is that same book I was working on in 1998, and I did it just a couple years ago. It was phenomenally successful. I learned how to work with YouTube, Google+, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and to use some tools that I think are priceless like Hootsuite which enables me to schedule a lot of my posts. For example, if I am doing a book launch in partnership with another author, I can promote what they are doing on a certain day and time using prescheduled tweets, very short little sound bite messages which fit into 140 characters or less, using hashtags if possible or necessary…
For me it is necessary, in order to make a living doing what I do, to have bestselling book and make sure that my message is getting out there, and that I know who my target market is. I am partnering through Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. It is a very special connection with YouTube and Google+ to enjoy some of the additional exposure that I can get which was not possible back when I started in 1999. Things are changing rapidly, and I have come up to learning curves all over the place, but it has been an exciting journey.
Kimberly: It sounds like you have been keeping up very well. I will point out to my listeners that the YouTube videos and the connection to Google+ are really fantastic. That is something that everyone needs, and if you are not doing videos, you need to be posting videos. It is amazing how Google+ is working with that and boosting it up on your searches.
Cynthia: If they are doing the YouTube, another thing people do not think to do is choosing a good title for the video and put closed captions in there, make sure you have got a description of what is in the video. If you have a blog, you can link it to the blog and embed the video in the blog. I guess the big thing I would say is to take one small step, do something and if you do not know where to start… I love what you do, I am so excited that you are providing this wonderful service. So many people feel overwhelmed especially now if they have not started, and if they do not have their irons and all these little fires, how on earth will they know where to start? It is confusing.
Kimberly: It is confusing, and it changes so quickly. So you learn one thing, and then it changes, it is so overwhelming! If it is not your unique ability, and you have a gift that you are trying to share and you are trying to learn this, it would drive me crazy too.
Cynthia: Absolutely! I mentioned Hootsuite, and I love it and learned it really fast. Even though it charges $5.99 a month, it is really worth it to be able to make regular posts on social media. I used to feel this way too, I cannot waste time logging ontoFacebook and Twitter, why are people posting about their breakfast and everything? You do not need to do that. I think that is a big mistake that a lot of authors make is posting things that are not connected to their image at all, and then they are kind of misusing the social media. You need to get in mind, this is my business persona, I am projecting this, and it needs to match what my message is.
