Respect Your Buddha

I absolutely love Buddhas because in feng shui we believe that placing a Buddha statue in your home or office can attract positive energy (chi).  For this reason, I have acquired quite a collection over the years which I proudly display in my home, office, and garden.  There are so many different styles of Buddhas to choose from, here are a few examples, Protection Buddha, Calming Buddha, Chakra Buddha, Laughing Buddha, and Meditation Buddha.

One of my all-time favorites is the Laughing Buddha, and if you have never purchased a Buddha before then the laughing Buddha is the best one to choose as these lovely happy Buddhas bring wealth and happiness into your home.  It is thought to be very auspicious to rub a laughing Buddha’s belly, and the bigger the belly you choose the better.  Rub that belly every day!

I am frequently asked where shall I place my Buddha and what size Buddha should I buy?  I believe the bigger the Buddha the better the energy (chi).

There are many different rules about the placement of different religious objects, for example, Angels, Buddhas, Deities in Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism, but today I will focus on the Buddha for your feng shui placement.

TIPS ON WHERE YOU CAN PLACE A BUDDHA

  • DO place a Buddha at waist height or even higher to show your Buddha the respect it deserves.
  • DO place a Buddha opposite your front door on a table. The buddha can interact with the energy (chi) as it enters your home.
  • DO place a Buddha in your lounge, the best position is again sitting on a table facing the door.
  • DO place a Buddha on your office desk as this brings auspicious energy to help you reach your goals.
  • DO place a Buddha on the reception desk if you own a company to help with the prosperity of your business.
  • DO place a Buddha in your garden, ensuring it is raised off the ground.

TIPS ON HOW NOT TO DISRESPECT A BUDDHA

  • DO NOT place a Buddha on the floor, looking down at any deity is considered disrespectful and rude.
  • DO NOT place a Buddha in the bathroom. It is not respectful to have your Buddha’s energy washed down the pan.
  • DO NOT place a Buddha in your kitchen.
  • DO NOT place a Buddha in your bedroom.
  • DO NOT place your Buddha near electrical sockets or moving appliances as this type of EMF energy and movement will disturb the energy surrounding the Buddha.
  • DO NOT place a Buddha in a room full of clutter.

When choosing your Buddha, go with what feels right for you.  One thing to consider for the East & West sectors of your home is what material the Buddha is made of.  It is more beneficial to place a wooden Buddha in the East sector and a metal Buddha in the West sector.  If you are unsure where these sectors fall, you can find out by standing in the center of your home and use a compass to show you these areas.
