A few weeks ago, I shared with you Step 1 of my unique Presenting Methodology so I thought it would be fitting to follow up with Step 2.
This is without a doubt my favorite step, and for me, is where the magic happens when we’re Speaking or Presenting. In Step 1, we’ve learned to not change state; you’re the same person off-camera and on-camera. And then once we’re on-camera, you’re working moment-to-moment, with whatever is happening within yourself and the audience. I created Step 1: No Change Of State to be able to share from whatever shade of ourselves we’re feeling that day and let that influence our chosen topic. It allows us to take the masks off and remove the perception or fantasy of how we think we should show up.
It leads beautifully into Step 2: Dropping From Head To Heart.
When we’re in business and looking to engage with new clients we generally want to clearly articulate the following:
What is the problem we solve?
Who is it we help or serve?
What would be the outcome of working together?
And, how do we do it from our unique perspective?
And for me, our ‘unique perspective’ is the most important by-product of dropping from head to heart. It’s what lights us up, it’s how people can see what we do, why we’re so freaking passionate about what we do and makes our audience want to know more. It’s how we stand out from the saturated level of Presenting mediocrity. We don’t want to play in that zone and this is what keeps you stuck in the same playing field as many other business owners all trying to technically communicate their message. And it all sounds the same!
‘Dropping From Head To Heart’ enables us to find the magic, to discover and articulate how we do what it is that we do from our own unique perspective. And I’ll tell you why. We have our chosen topic, yes, then by dropping into our hearts, we’re able to take the time and space we need to articulate the feeling around this topic. The words are sitting there, they’re waiting to be given life, to leave your lips with the extra weight of your vibration..
By far, the most intricate work I do in my events is helping people peel away the masks which gloss over the parts of themselves they’ve chosen to hide. When these masks are peeled back they get moments of what it feels like to drop into their heart, this is the magic and they will know this feeling forever. It’s a stunning shift that is felt by everyone watching in the audience.
We want to give ourselves the best opportunity to find flow. Flow for me is another way of describing becoming a conduit for infinite wisdom. And for me, that is the Holy Grail of Presenting. To give ourselves the best opportunity to drop into flow and to discover what that even feels like, we need to give ourselves the space and the time to articulate the feeling that is happening in our heart around our topic. It’s not logical, yet when I guide you through it, it feels like the most natural thing in the world.
And this is when you create magic with your audience. We discover things that we didn’t even know that we knew, we’re articulating words, sentences, areas of what we do, and how we do it in a way that we’ve never articulated before. This is where I discover all of my content. This is why I know that I play at the vanguard of Presenting – because I’m discovering it for myself by tapping into what I would call greatness, which we are all tapped into.
Remember, we’re all tapped into the same thing, I’m giving myself the best opportunity to tap into greatness, and that’s giving me the gift of the words of what it is that I do. Every time you go to speak and you drop from head to heart, you going on a discovery of self. And when you’re on stage or on-camera, and this is happening to you, the people that are watching are experiencing something completely unique to you in this moment. And this is where it gets even better. When the words come from your heart, when you’ve given life to these words that are waiting for you, they’re touched by your essence and vibration. It’s not from your head. It’s not your memorized lines. It’s not, ‘what do I think? What am I meant to say right now?’
You’re giving life to greatness. And the more that you do this, the more you get used to doing it this way, and the more the magic happens as you connect more deeply with your audience.
Because, if you think about it, the subconscious mind is 95% of the way we process emotions and the meanings we give to things, it’s the feeling mind and this is the part of the mind you’ll be impacting every time with dropping from Head to Heart.
Your audience will never forget how you made them feel.
