Love Taps and other Ways to Expand Your Peace

When I was a little girl, my dad used to tell me that Love taps are reminders to do the right thing!! I interpret them as gentle but needed reminders for self-care and daily nourishment.

I am taking that concept and expanding it to my current daily mindfulness practice. Isn’t it true that we need Love taps to balance our relationships with just about everything in our lives?

Firstly our relationship with ourselves. My number one tool and practice is Meditation and Journaling. Heck, I even have a portable meditation station that I can move around my house so I can set up my little sanctuary where ever I choose. I take it with me on vacations if at all possible it helps me feel connected and at home with my regular practice.

The following tips have helped me with consistency and simplicity in my meditation and spiritual practice…

Keep it simple, start out with 5 minutes of Journaling about what’s up for you today and 10 minutes of meditation. You can use a simple word to meditate such as Here Now or Be Here. The point is to settle down and breathe. Come back to yourself, ground and connect.

Diaphragmatic breaths are powerful since they expand your lung capacity and bring much more oxygen to your brain. Breathing also helps to stimulate your Vagus nerve that runs through your major organs to create the relaxation response.

Try breathing into your heart space using a word such as calm or peace. Then slowly expand the vibration out to your entire body, this creates a shift in your vibration and energy field attracting more positive energy to you.
If you get distracted come back to your breath and be gentle with yourself.

Many folks try to create the perfect meditation practice and judge themselves for drifting off. That is just part of the process. You can add a special ritual to your meditation time often making it fun. I change my rituals as needed and learn new ones that I incorporate to inspire and spark creativity. I guarantee you will become calmer and feel refreshed even with 5 minutes of slow breathing and mindfulness.
