Harmonize Your Home with Colors

It’s great to move into a new home and have a blank canvas so you can decorate in your favorite colors.  It’s even better if you can use feng shui to help you choose the perfect harmonious colors to use in each sector of your home or business.

By placing the bagua map over your floor plan (see the explanation of how to do this below), you can work out what rooms fall in what sector and using the element for that sector to select the perfect colors for your room.  As well as harmonious colors, there are also colors to avoid too.

AUSPICIOUS COLORS FOR THE HOUSE BAGUA

Below is a list of colors which are recommended and also a list to try and avoid in each sector.  If your house is decorated in the colors to avoid, please don’t panic and start redecorating the whole house.  These colors will enhance your feng shui and harmonize your home.  If you have the opportunity to use them then that is wonderful or maybe just add cushions in the recommended colors to enhance the energy,

NORTH SECTOR (Water):  White – Gray – Blue – Black – Purple
Avoid these colors:  Green – Brown – Red – Orange – Pink

NORTHEAST SECTOR (Small Earth): Yellow – Beige – Red – Orange – Purple

HOW TO PLACE THE BAGUA MAP OVER YOUR FLOOR PLAN

You can use an architect’s floor plan or draw out the floor plan yourself.  You need to draw it to scale if possible so that you can get an accurate divide between the sectors.  It is best to make copies before you start drawing lines over your plan just in case you make a mistake, as you don’t want to start all over again.

Divide your floor plan into nine equal sectors (see diagram below).  Stand on the threshold of your front door looking out.  Take the compass reading of your door (use an actual compass; as a phone app compass is not accurate).

Looking at the compass directions list below, see what sector your front door falls in.  For example, if your front door is 72˚ then that sector will be East.  Label all the other sectors accordingly (see example diagram below for an East Front Door).

Compass Directions:

North:  337.5˚ – 22.5˚
North East: 22.5˚ – 67.5˚
East: 67.5˚ – 112.5˚
South East: 112.5˚ – 157.5˚
South: 157.5˚ – 202.5˚
South West: 202.5˚ – 247.5˚
West: 247.5˚ – 292.5˚
North West: 292.5˚ – 337.5˚

(If your front door direction is exactly 22.5˚, 67.5˚, 112.5˚, 157.5˚, 202.5˚, 247.5˚ or 337.5˚ you may want to contact me by emailing contact@sylviamorgan.com for free advice)

BATHROOMS ARE AN IMPORTANT EXCEPTION

Bathrooms are treated differently; you shouldn’t activate or harmonize the sector where a bathroom is situated.

For example, you would normally activate or harmonize the south, which is the fame sector using the colors red or purple, also using candles. But if you have a bathroom here and you do this, you are energizing the fame energy with the negative draining energy of the toilet/bathroom. You should instead use the colors blue or black here to suppress the negative bathroom energy.  Below is a table showing the effects of having a bathroom or toilet in each of the sectors in your business or home and also what colors to use to suppress this negative draining energy.
