Don’t Quit Your Daydream

If you’re a creative, this phrase will resonate with you – Don’t Quit Your Day Dream. If you’re a spiritual creative, it will hit home even more. Co-workers, friends and family members (especially family members) will offer you advice on your spiritual journey. They will tell you not to quit your day job. What if – the ever-present “what if” – you chose a new perception. That perception is not to quit your daydream.

CHANGE YOUR PERCEPTION

When you’ve discovered or, rather, uncovered that you have a spiritual gift, what is your perception of that gift? Do you make it wrong? Do you make yourself wrong? More often than not, in the beginning, you will try to avoid acceptance of your gift. More importantly, you’ll avoid acceptance of your calling.

What if – you changed your perception. Rather than think to yourself, “what am I supposed to do with this? Why couldn’t I just be an accountant when I grew up?” walk into acceptance.

Accept your gift and stay with this for a while. You don’t have to quit your day job and jump into action. Sit with what is. Change your perception from, “this can’t be good” to “this is awesome”.

“When you begin to change your own perception, the way others perceive you will change.”

This is my mantra. I have to repeat this to myself daily, moment by moment. It is a reminder to me that the only one standing in my way is me.

EMBRACE IT

Once you’ve changed your story about who and what you are, begin to walk with it, visit with it, and embrace it. Fully be with who and what you are, not only to yourself but to the world. Revel in it, play with it, enjoy it and honor it. Embrace all that you are and all that you are about to become.

OWN IT

Last but never least is to own it. That’s right; own your individuality; own your uniqueness; honor your gift. Once you begin to change your story, accept and then embrace it, owning it will be transformational, joyful, and free-falling.

Own your gift. Get out of your head. Live from your heart, and never quit your daydream. For more guidance of this sort, check out the best-selling book, The Peacemakers. It will make a difference.
