You see these advertisements almost everywhere on the streets or online. Feng Shui seems so POWERFUL that it encompasses everything.

What is Feng Shui and does Feng Shui cure everything?

Feng Shui as explained in Wikipedia is “a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment.”

It is a “system” or, in layman term, a “tool” of harmonizing everyone with surrounding environment and yet, it seems through time and space that we have unconsciously tainted and altered the original essence of “Feng Shui” by concluding that Feng Shui arrangement equals to solving every single problem we encountered or are going to encounter.

Most people, when facing an issue especially related to human relationship, jump into conclusion, “Something must be not right about our positioning and facing.” They then seek for Feng Shui Master in hope to change their luck or situation.

Let’s focus on human relationship and evaluate some of these actions:

  • No affection to our partner
  • Not respecting the supervisor
  • No time for the children
  • “I can go and do it later, earning money is more important”
  • “Eat, enjoy and suffer later” attitude

Are any of the points above related to Feng Shui or oneself?

Does Feng Shui effect “us” or do we affect ourselves?

It is all inter-connected. Just take our body as an example. Focus on 3 points: body, mind & soul.

  • Physical Point of View – for having a good body, we need the support and nourishing energy of the food and regular exercises.
  • Mental Point of View – We need to learn to be optimistic and constantly trick our mind.
  • Spiritual Point of View – That is to affirm the value of our existence and believe in God/Your Mighty/Universe.

They are interconnected, and yet they have their own ways to nourish themselves. This applies to Feng Shui.

Quite a few times on my Feng Shui consultations with my clients, I found that the effects of furniture arrangement or direction of space are minimal. The problem lies in the human.

  • Not wanting to speak to another party on how they feel or do, that person has already put a mental block, “The person will not listen to me.”
  • The ego whispering, “I am more superior than my inexperienced supervisor.”
  • Looking at the mobile screen while talking to children or telling them, “ I don’t have time for this.”
  • Working 24/7 because earning money is more important than health
  • Building an attitude, “Eat, enjoy and suffer later.”

People have forgotten their own motives are some of the cruxes that lead us to conflict but we unconsciously take Feng Shui as an ULTIMATE solution for everything.

What are the uses of Feng Shui?

Among all the uses of Feng Shui, I zoom into 3 key points to accomplish using Feng Shui:

  1. To achieve balance flow of forces (Qi) within the space. This enables building good vibes in surroundings.
  2. Maintain a stable flow of forces (Qi) within the space. This produces positive environment and minimizes negative energy.
  3. To free from cluttering goods.

If we… :

  • Speak in the right tone and on the right time,
  • Are calm and communicate with other party without distraction,
  • Cooperate and sincerely try to get a win-win situation,
  • Stay humble,
  • Reward others with a cheerful smile…

then such behavior partially solves human relationship issues.

I like the sharing by Master Choi Park-Lai (蔡伯励), the GO-TO FENG SHUI MASTER for Asia’s Rich and Famous such as Asia’s Richest Man, Mr. Li Ka-Shing, and the first Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mr. Tung Chee-Hwa.

He suggested, “In order to achieve the best 100% of your life – 70% come from your action,  for Feng Shui only contributes 30% of it.”

Simple Mathematics: Human Action: 70% +  Feng Shui arrangement & placing: 30% = 100%

THIS ENABLES US TO CONCLUDE FENG SHUI COULD NOT SOLVE EVERYTHING. Feng Shui helps in the role of supplements.

Following Master Choi Park-Lai’s suggestion, one may conclude that if any Feng Shui Practitioner who claims that they can change your luck with Feng Shui ALONE are lying to you.
