KIMBERLY: One thing I love about what you do is empowering women to find their true selves. I speak with spiritual entrepreneurs everyday and I’d say half the people I speak with say, “This is what I want to do, I want to help women, make sure they’re empowered so they can live their true purpose,” but then they start questioning themselves, “But how do I do that as a business?” You’ve done an amazing job at doing that. Share with us a little bit about how you got there.
CORONA: Absolutely. I’ve been in business now, it’s coming up on seven years, this is the seventh year and it wasn’t always easy for me. Actually I struggled for the first couple of years and I didn’t really have a plan. I was working in corporate for a very long time, 12 years just climbing the corporate ladder and I was miserable. I was really miserable. I had this idea in my head that I wanted to become a manager and that once I got to this manager level in the corporate world then I’d be happy and then I’d feel like I’m successful. I got to that role and I hated it. I was having anxiety attacks, I couldn’t sleep, I was just really depressed and I was drinking a lot back then as well, just really numbing myself out.
I had reached a breaking point in my health, where my adrenal shut down and I just got completely and utterly exhausted, and ended up with liver damage and insulin resistance, which is on the verge of diabetes. I was in a really, really bad place. I was at work one day and it’s like I was guided to hand in my resignation and so I did, but I had no plan. At that stage I was doing coaching training and I had just completed my Yoga Teacher Training. I said, “Right, okay, well, I have these skills,” but I have no idea how I could use them. I did resigned, but then I freaked out, I went into fear and so I unresigned. They brought me back on board for another month and made all these promises to me that things would improve, because I was working really, really long hours and I was really, really, really stressed and unhappy. Four weeks later nothing changed and I decided to resign again.
My journey started from there. At that time I was teaching, maybe like two classes a week and I just started teaching more and more classes. I’d say for the first couple of years it was a real challenge. I was teaching a lot of classes, some weeks I was teaching like 15 classes in a week on top of doing coaching work, and I was working in a shop at the time as well for the first couple of months to get some money in a Whole Foods store.
Really, my business took off when I hired a mentor because, but the right mentor, because I had mentors on and off throughout that time, but it was never anything long-term. I’d get a business coach for maybe two sessions and I do a little bit of work with that business coach thinking that they could give me so much in two sessions. I did that, a couple of years, just kind of on and off working with different people and then I reached kind of a breaking point last year and I was like, “I can’t do this anymore. I want to have kids. I want to really have a regular income coming in. I’m struggling.” Everything changed for me when I made that decision and I really decided that it was time to really invest in myself and work with a mentor.
KIMBERLY: That’s such a big commitment too, and I think a lot of times we allow fear in and we question, “Is that really going to work? Is that really what I need?” All this stuff comes up for us. How did it come to the point where you had to make the decision, “This is it, this is what I’m going to do?”
CORONA: I was really winging it for a couple of years and I was doing okay, but I just wasn’t earning what I really felt I was worthy of. It was quite limiting how I could show up and serve and it was limiting my lifestyle as well, because I want to have kids eventually. I was like, “Well, I can’t keep going the way I’m going if I eventually want to have a child down the line.” I just had to make that commitment and it is a big commitment, and it is a big investment as well, but that investment pays off, it really does.
KIMBERLY: Now, one thing that I know with spiritual entrepreneurs is we get really nervous about money and creating abundance. And looking at the service that we’re providing as a business that we need to get an energy exchange for. What’s your philosophy in building that abundance with your spiritual business?
CORONA: I suppose what I’ve learned is that I was taking myself for granted for many years in my business, and I was totally undercharging. By working with my mentor and having him really show me the true value of what I was doing for these women, supporting them, and how I was actually changing the course of their life, that just clicked and I realized, “Wow, I am totally undercharging.” It was like a light bulb moment for me. The way I set my business up now it’s a bigger investment for the women to come on board.
Let me tell you, by them putting that investment in themselves, it shows commitment for them and that just pays off. The transformations that I’m getting for the women they’re just mind-blowing. I would never have been able to get them before based off what I was charging for myself. It’s like I have to do this. It’s like I’m doing the clients an injustice if I actually undercharge because I won’t give them the greatest transformation that they can possibly have.
KIMBERLY: It’s so perfectly said. I didn’t mention at the beginning that Corona and I have the same mentor, and this has been ingrained in us. I know everyone who listens to me always hears me say, it’s about the value. You’re right, we are doing a disservice if we aren’t charging enough because then they don’t take it seriously.
CORONA: That’s right. They really don’t. When they invest a good bit in themselves they show up so committed and they get results and really great results.
KIMBERLY: How do you keep yourself in alignment creating the financial abundance with the business? What tricks do you use to keep yourself in alignment with that abundance coming in?
CORONA: I do a lot of clearing, a lot. A lot of clearing and cleaning of my subconscious mind and I work with that every single day. I’ve got a really committed and dedicated spiritual practice and I get up quite early, I chant mantras. I’m a Kundalini yoga teacher so I do a lot of Kundalini yoga and I do a lot of meditations. It’s just I have to do that for myself. If I didn’t do that and the visualizations and the gratitude, my mindset can just fall back into that old space very quickly. That has become just a nonnegotiable, I just, I have to do this. It’s really what I teach the women I work with as well, because if you want to become that magnet you have to actually do the work so that you start to really vibrate at a higher consciousness, so you do become the magnet and you start drawing in experiences, opportunities, abundance in many forms.
KIMBERLY: Looking back on creating the business and what you’ve done, I know a mentor’s a really major game-changer for you, but what other recommendations do you have for someone who has the background that you have? You also have Reiki, and you’ve done Doreen Virtue’s Certified for Angel Card Readings. What advice do you have for fellow spiritual entrepreneurs to really step out and share their gift?
CORONA: I think for me, I was comparing myself a lot and I was looking to my peers and that was really blocking me for quite some time. What I had to do was I literally had to unsubscribe from all those newsletters and I had to take myself out of groups where I was just constantly comparing myself, because that was confusing me. I was often just looking to others to see how I could do my work. The minute I started to do that and push back from a lot of groups and unsubscribe, I really honed in on what am I good at, and my experience, what’s problems that I can really fix, and I just worked from there. That’s the advice I’d give to anyone, if there’s too much noise just pull back from it all, unsubscribe and actually just sit with yourself and look at the journey you’ve been on today. Like what have you been able to overcome or heal and how can you support others in that. That’s how I work.
KIMBERLY: Any other secret business tips you want to share in the creation of your business that you look back and say, “Oh, if I’d only known back then that I know now,” what would that be?
CORONA: I think … I’ve done a lot of training and I do a lot of training and sometimes I don’t really understand why I’m doing this training, but I can see now that everything I’ve done is supporting me on the journey and it’s really helping me build tools for my clients. The advice I give is to just never stop growing, never stop learning, and I often just ask myself, “What more skills can I bring on board? How can I better serve my clients?” I think that’s been a big part of my journey. Everything I’ve done today has really helped me and supported me, but not only me, it’s really supported my clients.
KIMBERLY: That’s true, as we grow we can offer so much more, which is really important. I just love your presence, it’s very calming, and I just kind of want to sit in it just a little bit. If anyone is looking for you, to find out more about what you do, if they’re looking for a transformation and being able to find their true selves, so that they can be ready to go on their purpose and their life path, where can they find you?
