The entrance to your home is one of the most important areas in feng shui as it is not only the point at which the energy enters, but it is also the doorway to happiness, income, and opportunities. It should feel welcoming, be bright, clean, clear, and attractive. An attractive front door can sell a house before the buyer even walks through the front door; and the occupier can continue to enjoy the great feng shui it brings.
I get asked this question a lot, “What color should I paint my front door?” It is important that you paint your front door in the correct color to harmonize with your home’s facing direction.
There are many auspicious colors in feng shui and red is considered the best out of them all as it is associated with positive energy, protection, and good luck. However, it is always better to choose the correct colour for the facing direction of the front door to avoid any clash of energies.
To find out what direction your front door faces, you must use a compass and stand inside your doorway looking out into the road while holding the compass. You can take the reading from the compass and this will tell you if it is North, South, Northeast, etc.
Here is a list of the colors that will either enhance the energy or harmonize with your front door direction to help you choose the best one for you. E.g. My front door is east facing so we have a brown door.
NORTH

How you feel about your home is also very important. Do you love your home? Brush and clean your doorstep, whilst ensuring your windows are gleaming, and the paintwork is in good repair. Cut back bushes and remove any dead plants from your outdoor pots, as dead energy is the worst kind.
It is very important to ensure that the entrance isn’t cluttered. If there is clutter remove it all, as this will block the flow of this lovely energy into your home. Your hallway should always be open, bright with a clear walkway through.
