Activate Your Money Luck with a Feng Shui Money Frog

When I invite friends around for dinner, the conversation always turns to Feng Shui.  They ask me questions about the different feng shui cures and activations they notice around the house.

  • What is that for?
  • Do I need one?
  • Where should I put it if I got one?
  • Where can I buy one from?

I love this because they then go home and tell their partners and their family.  Their partners think they’ve gone crazy, but they all soon learn that feng shui actually works.

The conversation topic last night was money frogs; one of my friends noticed my money frog and asked what it was for.  After feng shui being the topic of conversation most of the evening, my friends were planning to order themselves one each today, and this inspired me to write an article about these symbolic money frogs.

WHAT ARE MONEY FROGS?

A three-legged money frog is a popular Chinese symbol of wealth and prosperity; it represents good news about money (it can also be called Chan Chu, three-legged money toad or lucky frog).  The traditional money frog has red eyes and is normally sitting on a pile of Chinese coins and also holds a coin in his mouth.   This money frog is believed to help you to increase your income, stop unwanted spending habits, and also wards off evil spirits according to feng shui beliefs.  If you have a strong belief in your money frog, it can be a very powerful wealth creator for you.

WHERE SHOULD I PUT MY FENG SHUI MONEY FROG?

Locations for the money frog can vary, but there are a few simple rules which you should follow

  • Don’t place your feng shui money frog on the floor.
  • Place it on a cabinet or table
  • Place them with a wall behind them for support.
  • Position your money frog so it faces the door of the room, this will symbolically enable it to catch the wealth in its mouth as it enters.
  • Don’t place a money frog in your bedroom, kitchen or bathroom.
  • Don’t place a money frog in the middle of the room.
  • Don’t place a money frog on your windowsill or under a window.
  • Don’t place a money frog directly opposite a door.
  • A great place is next to your desk in your office
  • Another great place is the north ‘career area’ of your lounge to attract new business opportunities and enhance your career.
  • The south-east ‘wealth corner’ is also a great area to place your money frog.

DO I NEED TO ACTIVATE MY MONEY FROG?

Yes, you do need to activate your money frog.  You can do this by placing your money frog on red paper, or by tying a red ribbon around it. If your money frog has a red jewel on it then your money frog has already been activated.  It is also important that your money frog is holding a Chinese coin in its mouth too, with the Chinese writing on the coin facing upwards.

HOW MANY MONEY FROGS SHOULD I HAVE IN MY HOUSE?

I have three money frogs in my home, as this feels right for me.  I have one in my entrance hall so it can catch the wealth as it enters my home.  I have a second in my office next to my desk which so happens to be my south-east wealth corner to attract more income and a third in the north sector to help attract new business.

WHAT COLOR IS A MONEY FROG?

The most popular money frog colors you can purchase easily are gold, dark red or green.  I have chosen the colors of my money frogs to match my décor.  Feng shui cures and activations are more effective if they look as though they belong there and not stand out like a sore thumb, so always take this into account when purchasing your money frog.

WHERE CAN I BUY A MONEY FROG?

You can order money frogs online from Amazon or eBay.  You may also find them at your local feng shui or holistic shop.
