A Reflection of You

Is your handbag full of clutter?  Mine used to be full to the brim of anything and everything.  I think I carried my world around with me, I had that much inside my bag that I could never find anything I wanted, especially my mobile phone when it rang.  My bag was so heavy that it caused me a lot of shoulder and neck pain.  Every now and then I would take the time to sort it out but before long it would be back to how it originally was.

Did anyone receive a new purse/handbag/wallet for Christmas?  I received a gorgeous new bag and purse and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of emptying out the old one and throwing away any rubbish that had accumulated over the last few months and filling up the new one with only the things that I needed.  I still had a big selection of Christmas shopping receipts which I always keep in my bag safe just in case they are needed for gift returns.

What a great feeling it was to put everything back in order.  My bag was much lighter and I knew where everything was, it was great!  In the past, I have thrown out all sorts of things, broken pens, old lipsticks, empty sweets tins, cough sweets, lots of papers, receipts, old bank cards, bills, tissues, old shopping lists, phone chargers, and umbrellas.  I had been carrying these things around with me unnecessarily for weeks.  If your house is full of clutter, you will find the clutter mentality spills over into your bag/purse and also your car.

I like to declutter my car on a regular basis too, again I feel great when I have done this just like I do when I declutter my house as this gets the stuck energy moving again.  Energy is like oxygen, it is all around us but we can’t see it.  Excess clutter traps this energy an stops the natural flow causing blockages and a reluctance to progress.  This sluggish energy creates a negative effect on us and our business.  We can feel confused, tired, depressed and can’t focus on any single task, stopping us from taking the business forward and blocking opportunities.

If things start to go wrong with your car, take it to a garage and have the car checked and repaired as soon as possible.  Your car can also be a reflection of what’s going on in your life?

Here are some examples of the reflections, do you recognize any of them?

  • If your radiator is leaking = Money leak.
  • Battery issues = Low energy for you.
  • Headlight bulb broken = Difficulty seeing ahead.
  • Indicator breaks = You are struggling to know what direction to go in.
  • Tire puncture = you aren’t getting very far and things keep slowing you down.

Whatever is happening on the outside, is nearly always happening on the inside.  This is why decluttering is so good at clearing your mind and giving you the space to focus on what’s ahead.  Decisions are easier to make and your thoughts are clearer, you are less likely to feel overwhelmed.

Try a little experiment…

Clear out your handbag/purse/wallet and if you own a car, do the same.  Plus give it a clean, polish and hoover the interior.  I promise you that you will be amazed at how great it feels once it’s done.  When you have done this, pay attention to what shifts in your life.
