Heal Your Story before You Share Your Story

It’s so easy to share our immediate reactions to situations or stories that happen in our lives. We take to Facebook or our blog and we express ourselves. That’s what social media is for after all and it’s so convenient to share our first response with the world.

We share easily. We share excitement and our pain. We tag businesses to let them know about poor service. And we share incredible business recommendations with our friends online as well.

As a woman who is in touch with her energy and emotions, I’m careful about what I listen to, read or watch throughout the day. As a storyteller coach, my job is to help my clients move on from the first reaction of a story to the real heart and soul of it.

Storytelling is a magnet. It’s an energy, like everything else. When we share our stories from a place of pain or anger, that’s what we create more or and that is what we’ll see come back onto our path.

By offering a point of view about a painful experience in our lives from solutions orientated perspective will create a very different experience and ripple effect.

There is a common phrase in the storytelling community. It’s always better to share your scars versus wounds. To get there, try these journaling prompts:

·        Prompt your writing with questions like:

o   Why am I so angry about this situation?

o   What can I do to make sure this doesn’t happen to me or someone else again?

o   What has this situation taught me about myself?

This writing isn’t to be shared just yet. When you’re ready to teach the world your lessons your audience will be waiting!

They are looking for what you have to share and teach the world. People like us ARE HEALING the world by helping others heal their own stories.

Your story is so important. More than that…your voice is vital to the future of our collective. Use it wisely.
