Books from Spirit: Embracing the Best of East and West

Are You Ready To Embrace The Best Of East AND West?

Are you curious about Hinduism or want to delve deeper into it?

Have you ever wondered about your life purpose beyond career or relationships? Do you feel like you need to better understand your life calling?

I totally get it. Me too.

Geeta Rao, author of Embracing the Best of East and West, struggled with these questions for years but found solutions that work in real life.

Living the concepts and ideas she shares in this book has improved her whole life and inner being.

Geeta’s deep love for traveling, observing, and learning has enhanced her spiritual path. In this book, she shares her insights on Hinduism and non-duality from her many explorations without and within.

Because she has been able to enjoy many wonderfully enriching friendships with people from different countries and walks of life, she shares her unique perspective on life, love, and religion with us now.

After reading her book on my Kindle several times, I was eager to share it with the readers of Spiritual Biz Magazine, so I reached out to her for an interview. This is what she had to say:

Qat Wanders: Hi Geeta! So this is your first published book, correct?

Geeta Rao: Yes šŸ™‚

QW: Can you tell us about your previous writing endeavors?

GR: Sure! My first published piece was actually a funny story that appeared in a childrenā€™s magazine when I was 13.

I also kept a diary as a teenager where I wrote about the things that happened each day. That was when I discovered that writing was a deeply personal, comforting activity.

In the final year of undergraduate Physics, I was nominated as the editor of our department journal. After that, even while pursuing an advanced degree in Science (MS Biophysics), the thought of writing never left my mind.

Grad school was when I began journaling regularly and it hasnā€™t stopped for 13 years now.

QW: Sounds like love at first write šŸ˜‰

Now letā€™s delve into Embracing the Best of East and Westā€”there is a lot of subject matter that many Westerners have NO IDEA about! Was building an awareness of Hindu and Indian culture in the West one of your goals?

GR: Absolutely. I wanted to convey the essence of Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) through my book. Actually, the idea just came as intuitive insight to write about this topic and I followed it.

I knew that many Westerners sought this information. I particularly wished to reach out to those who were interested in Hinduism and wanted a deeper insight into what the truth is behind the staggering variety of Gods, rituals, and customs.

QW: I think there are a lot of us! What was your overall vision/inspiration for this work of yours?

GR: I had a list of about 10 different topics to choose from for my first book, all of them in the self-help genre, but not all spiritual in nature. So I just asked God what I should write about, and clearly heard the answer, which was to write on the essence of ancient India, in other words, the essence of Hinduism for this first book.

I was filled with thrill and joy to write about this, and to share the insights I have gotten through struggle, so others donā€™t have to.

QW: Well, thatā€™s so beautiful! I love hearing about Divine Inspiration when it comes to books. Those are always the best to read because you can just FEEL it coming through the words when you read them. Which was definitely the case when I read yours.

Okay, next question; you talk about some pretty personal stuff here. Was it difficult for you to put your personal life out there like that? What do your friends and family (in both East and West) think?

GR: My friends think it was brave of me to have written about my personal life, and one even said, ā€œI canā€™t imagine the amount of emotional and mental strength that it took to do this.ā€

A cousin told me that she felt proud to be my cousin.Ā  Yes, it was hard to writeā€”especially about my mother and sisterā€”but I felt compelled to be that honest in order to touch peopleā€™s hearts and give them hope.

QW: Well, I am so glad you did! Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

GR: So far, the Kindle version has been very well-received in the US, UK, and Canada.

Also, on an inner level, I am continuing to do the cutting ties work that I described in the book, and this work has helped me feel amazingly free as of late! It has helped completely transform the relationship with my mother as well.

My understanding of non-duality has been deepening and I feel more peaceful and joyful each day.

QW: Wow. If THATā€™S not motivation to try these techniques out, I donā€™t know what is! Thank you, Geeta!
