Boni Lonnsburry is the CEO of Inner Art Inc., an expert on “conscious creation,” and the author of the best selling book, “The Map: To Our Responsive Universe, Where Dreams Really Do Come True.” By applying the Universal Law of Attraction to her own life she transformed poverty, loneliness and despair to abundance, love and joy. In 2000, broke, alone, jobless and nearly homeless, Boni invested $50 with a partner to start a new company In Touch Today – a business marketing company. Six months later, while helping her customers “grow their business,” she bought her partner out and in five years transformed her financial life from foreclosure and bankruptcy to abundance beyond even her wildest dreams – turning In Touch Today into $5 million company and selling it in 2011. But Boni didn’t stop there. Through her own personal journey of self-discovery she developed a system that helped turn her “dream into a reality” both financially and emotionally. After hitting rock bottom in her forties – Boni “consciously created” the love of her life at the age that most people give up hope—she and her husband were married in Fiji in 2010. Boni has spent decades mastering conscious creation and now she shares her system of self-discovery in her book “The Map: To Our Responsive Universe, Where Dreams Really Do Come True.”
KIMBERLY: Boni, you threw one word out there that I want to touch upon. You said ‘platform’, and I think it is so important for especially an author to have a platform, but also for anyone in this arena with their coaching business and stuff. How did you build your platform?
BONI: I started this work in the 90s before I was bankrupt, and my house was foreclosed. Actually in 1992 a psychic had told me, first psychic I had ever been too… I had just quit law school and I was at a loss about what to do. My step-mother took me to this psychic who was ninety-something years old at the time. She said “I know you are really upset right now and you do not know where the path is going to be, but trust me, you are going to be very happy and you are going to be teaching thousands of people about how to basically live a life you love.” I cannot remember the words she used. So I thought ‘This means now!’
I went out and recorded a tape series but, of course, I was not ready, I really did not know the first thing, I just heard this, and though I was going to do it. I did earn respect very well, I won an award for the tap series and ended up selling like one thousand copies. But it was not going to pay the bills, and I needed something that would. So I stopped that and I started the marketing company where I had a blast! I really enjoyed it. When it was time to do this again, I opened up the doors to doing it again.
I was lucky enough to get a domain name in with a .com. First I got .net and I thought that was great. With them it was really easy to get domain names when someone abandoned them, you could just sign up for it, but now you have to pay thousands of dollars to have a domain that you want to be yours and is not. So I signed up for livealifeyoulove.com and I got that too. I maintained a mailing list over the years, I had the website up and people would come up on it. At the time, Google pays per clicks to get people, and in the terms of new age, it was a penny a click. So I paid three dollars a month or whatever it was, and they would sign up. I knew I would be doing this work in earnest at some point in time. That was back then, now I do what I love. I love responding to people who are really earnest about growing and changing. I get enough emails that say ‘Oh my God, everything is going wring, tell me what to do.’ And I think there are hundreds of posts on my website like that.
I actually gave it away to a friend in January for free for two weeks. This month I am really giving away ‘The Map’ again for three hundred and sixty five days. If people sign up, they can sign up afterwards, I will start a little bit a day, it comes in their email, until they will have the entire book in their email. So I figured if you are willing to wait a year to finish the story, then please do so. But I think you should do what is fun and do not be afraid to be out there. I had a lot of fear of disability, I think a lot of bookers do, I think enough of us will burn to the state of being out there and being visible. But I think it is true, we all have this part of us that would rather stay under the radar.
I have changed a lot of those beliefs and healed them and others can too. Find a way to be visible that works for you, that you are okay with doing. In the Bahamas I live next door to a very popular singer who you would all know if I said the name and I will not because I respect her privacy. I realize that she has created a little haven for herself because she needs that. We can all create those havens and the spot in us that we need to replenish, and rejuvenate, and connect with source, and create. But then again, we all can be invisible in whatever way comfortable to us, we do not have to sell out or be uncomfortable. We can change our beliefs but say that it is not okay in the ways we want it to be okay.
KIMBERLY: That is beautifully said. Looking back on your journey, if you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?
BONI: I would do the same thing but basket myself every day of the year. I would stop worrying about tomorrow and pretend this day was the last one I was going to get professionally and I would milk it for all the joy and fun possible because too often we are concerned about the sales and numbers and being out there enough, getting enough visibility and clients and followers. The point is not what you sell or what you do, the point is having fun. Of course you are living in a world where the universe wants to respond to you one hundred percent of the time with one hundred percent abundance, so let the money come in however it wants to come in and do not care about it.
But every day show up with as much love and fun and passion and joy in your heart that you possibly can, be that light for others and yourself. It is really about having a blast! I get off this path as easy as anyone else does, but that is what I would do differently.
