Do you recall a time when you had to move away from home or school you loved and that unpleasant feeling from having to leave behind the comfort of familiarity? Or perhaps you experienced a similar feeling when you first started high school, or when you left home for college or to start a new job?
Change is inevitable. It’s an ongoing process. Yet if we don’t embrace it and step out of our old shell and into the new normal, we get stuck and that can make us feel downright miserable.
Changes like moving to a new home or school can be stressful. When we’re stressed, it’s easy to become judgmental and blame others for our discontent. But change happens and this month will be no exception. Watching our words will be especially important. Be careful not to act harshly toward others. Take responsibility for what you do and say. Focus on the positive. Kindness will go a long way this month. This is a dynamic month, and we can make great strides if we practice moving in the right direction. This is about finding balance with work, projects, and relationships. This is about being clear on what’s important to us.
Refrain from blaming other people and circumstances for your discomfort. Remain neutral as you move forward with your journey this month. Practice emotional, physical, and spiritual discipline and tie up loose ends. Be courageous and face any challenges head-on and don’t let them make you feel off balance.
Although we sometimes can’t see it, there is courage within all of us. Remember that new school and how you eventually made new friends—or any other time in your life, for that matter, when you adapted to a new environment, how the initial shock of change faded away? You developed a new vision, and those insecure emotions were no longer relevant. Boldly stepping out fortified you with the courage to let go of your old self-destructive attitudes.
Take these experiences with you this month and make the effort to step out. Escape those old, unhealthy mindsets, take those baby steps, and take advantage of new opportunities as they present themselves. Find happiness in new adventures.
