I recently found myself shopping aimlessly through the grocery store. A small group of friends was coming over for dinner, and I wanted to make a delicious impression. Yet while shopping, I couldn’t help feeling unfocused and at a loss as to what to make for my guests.
I had tossed around several recipes the night before hoping to finalize a menu. But while standing there in the dry goods aisle, my mind was a complete blank. Feeling overwhelmed, I decided to take the same advice I give my clients. I knew I needed to practice greater awareness, to follow my intuition, and let the universe guide me. Recognizing I needed help, I asked for guidance. Yet I was stuck.
But then, a woman passed by talking on her phone, and I couldn’t help but overhear her describing a fabulous lasagna she had prepared recently. Doing my best to hide my curiosity, I listened carefully as she recited her ingredients.
The thought of making lasagna gave me a sudden sense of joy and relief, and I knew exactly what I wanted to prepare for my guests. Before I knew it, everything I needed for dinner was inside my cart. It occurred to me later that I had been berating myself for not being better prepared and that I had let the stress of planning a meal keep me in a state of negativity and confusion.
Answers come to us in mysterious ways. No matter how large or small a task may seem, nor how alone we feel trying to accomplish it, divine guidance is available to us 24/7. Achieving greater awareness is like following a recipe. All we have to do is ask for the ingredients to be revealed to us.
A recipe for greater awareness:
Ask yourself those pressing questions and open yourself up to the answers. Tune in to the universe and ask your guides for help. Read a few pages from an inspirational book and do something you love. Reflect on the events of the day at the end of each day. Focus on the good, not the bad. Does anything stand out? What messages did you receive? What answers came to you? Follow your intuition and ask for direction from a higher power—your guides, your angels, the universe—they’re always there to help you. Stop to acknowledge and appreciate all things for what they are so you can find relief and joy in the answers you receive and achieve greater awareness.
