After a chilly winter here in the UK, I am excited that spring has finally arrived. Spring is a perfect time to start renovations, spring cleaning, and general home maintenance.
If you are planning to renovate your home, this year you should be mindful of some sectors in your home. The areas to keep quiet have moved since last year, year of the Tiger. This year, year of the Rabbit, the areas you should avoid performing major renovations to are the East, West, and the Northwest sectors, due to the negative energies that reside there this year. For this reason, these areas should be kept as calm and as quiet as possible. If you are hammering, drilling, digging, or knocking down walls, then this could aggravate the negative energies. It is best to keep these areas as quiet as possible and I know this is not always an ideal scenario but if it is possible, please don’t use these rooms at all or if you do, only use them occasionally.
What type of renovations CAN you do in the afflicted East, West, and Northwest sectors?
Painting and simple re-decorating are allowed, but major construction is not advisable in these sectors, because they can stir up the affliction energies.
Garden Renovations
This also applies to your garden areas too. You don’t want to disturb the earth in these areas, (e.g. Digging to add a swimming pool, or trying to dig footings to build an extension.) This is often the most potent way to stir up major difficulties. In fact, disturbing ground is one of the fastest ways to bring affliction-associated problems to a head.
What if you have an emergency and need to dig to fix an important issue?
There is always a possibility of an emergency, such as a broken water pipe, or a soil pipe underground that needs to be repaired. If this is the case, you must do the repair urgently, and keep in your mind that you are helping yourself by doing the repair. If you do not repair this, it could result in flooding, which is not in the best interest of you or your home.
What if I need to do a whole house renovation?
If you need to do a full house renovation this year, then please do not panic, my suggestion for the best way of doing this to reduce aggravating the sectors with the major afflictions would be to begin your renovations in a sector with auspicious energy, then work around your home, finishing also in a sector with auspicious energy. How to find out where each sector falls in your home
Using the floor plan of your home or business, measure the width and length of your property & divide your floor plan into 9 equal squares. Place the above Lo Shu Square over your floor plan (see the example below). If your entrance door faces east, you should mark the square your door falls into as the East sector and then mark all the other sectors accordingly. Use a compass to determine the direction of your front door, you can do this by standing at the threshold of your entrance door (looking out) and taking the compass reading.
